The Agency

'Tepee and Company'©
was a creation by a group of friends inspired by the history and culture of the Native Americans. This group also operated since years in the field of tent construction. It is a young agency which made an agreement with the FAM, the most important agency for the construction of tents, for the exclusive distribution in Italy of medieval tents, Indian tepees and Mongolian yurts. Distribution, installation and assistances are the cornerstones of Tepee and Company.

The tepee in the Indian culture
The circle is the symbol of the "tepee" and stand for security. The tepee is a conical structure with a variable number of poles. In the origins the tepees were covered by bison leather, today they are covered with cotton tents. Normally they used between 14 and 16 skins to drape over the skeleton of a „normal“tepee and up to 20-22 skins for a medicine tepee. Thanks to the proximity to pine tree forests some tribes like the Crows were able to use extremely long poles, but other tribes living in the prairie had to overbear hundreds of kilometers to find trees. Depending on the tribes the construction of the tepee was made with 3 poles (Cheyenne, Arapaho, Sioux), or with 4 (Blackfeet, Shoshonean Indians and Comanche). The woman stood up the tepee and therefore she was normally also the owner of it. An important symbol was the proportion between the middle opening and the fire place in the middle of the tepee. The entrance was aligned with the West and the special place with the East. Once upon a time the tepees were covered with very personal drawings, showing the visions of the owner, especially from the headman or the medicine man. Unfortunately their drawings were destructed after their death.
